1603- 1625                         James l                (Scottish, Stuart). Unites Kingdom – King James’s Bible (1620).    1616 Shakespeare dies 

 

1625-1649                           Charles l.          Stuart. head of High Church Anglican but married to a French Roman Catholic, Henrietta  Maria                                                                                                                          Separatists migration from England 1630-1653.  Scotts, Hutchinson, and Dyer Families arrive in Boston, become leaders,                                                                              and are banished in 1638.

                                                                                                                              

 

Commonwealth. 1653-1658. Cornwell- Lord Protector -Protestant – dies in office, son is not as successful. Puritan rule  

                                                                          Mary returns to England for several years. She eturns to Boston in 1659.

 

 

1660-1685                           Charles ll          Stuart, relaxed lifestyle, fun-loving, tragic Great  Plague and Fire in London, Anglican  until conversion                                                                                                         on his death bed to Catholicism, well remembers his father was beheaded, lived in exile as did his mother until 1660.

                                                                            Mary is hanged 1660, the RI Royal Charter provides protection of conscience, religion, speech, and travel. 1663.
